There are many examples where you read the words: “And the Lord said unto…” One good example is where Jesus says to Saul (Later to be known as the apostle “Paul”) “Saul why do you persecute Me”? This was Paul’s epiphany on the road to Damascus.
God, (The Father) said to Adam and Eve: “Why are you hiding” It seems that Adam and Eve got the most direct verbal contact from the Father.
Some church leaders will say that God no longer talks to man as of 325 AD when the Bible was collated. Some churches even believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer available.
I can specifically remember hearing a voice from God. It was 20 years ago. Probably in June or July. It was verbal but telepathic. I was in the 2nd or 3rd week of the divorce process and after a church service, I heard the message in my head: “Stay within yourself and I will be with you”.
What was interesting was, I had not solicited the message from God. I have no doubt it was from God as I was feeling spiritually depleted. It’s the message I needed to hear. It gave me hope and hope leads to promise and promise from God is as good as having the atoms in your hand.
My Ex-wife, a non-believer, wanted to leave. The scriptures say if the non-believer wants to leave let them leave. In spite of that verse, I would fight to keep a marriage together unless abuse is involved. Especially if children are involved.
I’m at a point where I need God’s guidance. When I try to meditate my mind drifts off into abstract thoughts and before I know it I’m sleeping. How embarrassing. I talk to God as if He is sitting in a chair next to me and I get the feeling He is just looking at me shaking his head.
I’ve heard from the great almighty once. My mission is to pursue his audience. I know that an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent God knows my needs and thoughts before I seek them. Yet it is important that you seek them. I’ll keep you all informed on the line of communication.
One last observation, if you ever read the book of Job; Job got the royal “Raw Deal” (for lack of a better word) Job was (As described by God) “A blameless and upright man, [fearing God and turning away from evil.” That’s a pretty good endorsement I’d say. What Job went through was as unfair as unfair gets. God’s favorite guy tried to figure out not only what he did to deserve having his family killed off and his possessions taken from him, but why God would not talk to him. Job waited and had to endure the hypothesis of his three stooges friends then finally Elihu, a kid came to Job and said:“God thunders with His voice wondrously, doing great things which we cannot comprehend”.
We are spirits that are inhabiting physical earth bodies. God, to us, is a Creator. We do not speak God’s language nor do we have the capacity to understand how the God/man relationship works.
