GROWING UP IN THE FAST LANE

Dear Parentless Child,

Understand that life on this planet can be long or prematurely terminated. If you can read this, you were not killed in the womb.  Remember that as you grow.  If your life was not taken in the womb, never consider taking another’s life in the womb.

Growing up in the fast lane is based on two principles.

1. You must know right from wrong and be brave enough to choose right even when wrong seems acceptable, more fun and is justified by society.  In the long term it’s this thought process that will indeed hurt you on this planet.  If you have trouble understanding right from wrong, seek a noble mentor.  If one is not available, read the New Testament Bible and try to emulate the life of Jesus.  Let the Jesus in the Holy Bible be your example of righteousness.

2.  You must try to understand Love. If you were born and grew up in an orphanage; it will be hard for you to understand unconditional Love. The most important form of love is the love you have for everything created by God.  God, the Creator of the Universe, Source Energy or your Higher Power is the one you will have to answer to in the end.  Don’t hold a grudge against God.  Your life will be full of obstacles.  Never forget that even the worst of the worst are still creatures of our God.  Show them love by wanting what is best for them.  Show them the best that you can give them.  The truth is that on this planet there is no “Us and Them”.  There is only us.

Story of the not so cute little kitten

I once had a pet kitten. There was something wrong with this creature.  It was not an easy pet to love.  It did not enjoy being held. It would hiss when touched.  It urinated on my coats and shirts that had fallen off their hangers.  I knew that had I taken this creature back to the place where I had adopted it; it would be put to sleep (death).  For ten years I put up with the damage and frustration this cat caused.  I got to a point where I was keeping it alive and feeding it just because it was the right thing to do.  That in its self was a form of the love I’m talking about.  Looking back, I believe this animal was put into my life as a lesson to see if I could love something that did not show love back.  It also showed me that I had a personal choice to get angry or just accept the situation and save myself the ulcer.  This is called Agape love. (Pronounced Ah-gah-pay).  It’s the most important type of love because it reflects on your ability to love, show compassion and mercy.  It’s the kind of love God has for his creation.

Human Nature

Humans that have offspring usually have a natural love for their creation. I would have said that this separates us from the animal kingdom but I’ve found that some humans can walk away from their children in a very animalistic fashion while at the same time a Mother Bear will protect her cubs with her last fighting breath.

mom-bear

A mother’s true love for her child is the Agape Love we should show for everyone. You may have heard the term: “He/She’s the type only a mother can love”.  You need to show that type of love for others while expecting nothing in return.  Your duty is your reward.  You showed love.  Even if the creature turns on you and kills you, you will have died proving your worthiness as a loving creature.  If you see someone hurting, do what you can to ease their pain.  If you see someone struggling, help them.

EROS LOVE = SEX

Life can get lonely. If you have no family it is better to stay within yourself than share your ignorance and desperaton with someone you find attractive.  I say “Ignorance” because if you haven’t figured out what your own faults, weaknesses and fears are, you will more than likely only be able to find a match that has the same issues that you have.  In short, my child, intimacy with another ignorant person will not solve the loneliness that stems from your “Ignorance”.  Keep in mind, highly educated individuals can be emotionally ignorant.  Love is not a quid pro quo arrangement.

Loneliness is never a good reason to seek company. Two ignorant people are worse than one.  When one sees enlightenment, often the other is no longer a match.  So in searching for a mate; become the person you want to meet first.  Likeness attracts likeness.  It’s simple physics.

When you strike a 512 Hz tuning fork, (concert C) if you hold another 512 tuning fork next to it, it will start vibrating without physical stimulation. If you hold a higher vibrating tuning fork like a 659 Hz (concert E) the fork will remain still. If you think substance abuse will solve your problems, you will probably find someone that tolerates substance abuse.  Abuse of anything is a form of ignorance. Don’t be ignorant.  Read! Watch personal Development videos! Talk to those who are perceived to have wisdom.  Go to personal growth seminars if you can afford it and believe the speaker is a person of wisdom.

Your body was created “naturally” with chemicals and organs designed to pro-create. (Meaning reproduce). Remember this when you engage in the act of sex.  Sex often leads to reproduction. It’s supposed to.  It’s always been my creed (when lucid) to avoid sex with someone I would not spend the rest of my life with.  You will find some that view sex as a sport, drug, distraction, affirmation or an intimate hand shake.  This thought process often leads to unwanted reproduction.  Unwanted reproduction is the road to the orphanage.  If you, my child, don’t want to put another human in the same shoes you were forced to wear; you will avoid sex without commitment.  Make love, not sex.  Sex without love is equivalent to substance abuse.  Don’t do it.  Love should be the: “Physical Manifestation of Spiritual Unity”.

THE FUTURE IS YOUR PAST !

You can only change the past by altering the future. Think hard about that.  If you go through life dwelling about how hard you had it growing up; remember that at some point you became responsible for your actions.  In most religions they talk about the “age of accountability”.  As far as the law is concerned, it differs in legal definition in different states.  In the absence of responsible guidance, this will take you longer.

*However; once you realize that your actions become your past, you can modify your future actions which will in time modify your past. Once you read this it will be in your past by the time you understand it.

Remember you only have one chance to make a first impression. If you’ve based your life on right from wrong and let Love and Knowledge guide your behavior ,  you will not have to worry about how you come across to others.  (You shouldn’t anyway)  Be what you want to be then share your life with the like minded person you attracted.

Unknown Emotions

-orange-tabby

11 years ago we adopted an orange tabby from the SPCA. Boy was he ever glad to be out of his kennel (The first day).  We took him home to a beautiful surroundings that had an upstairs and down stairs made for a wild mountain lion.

Upon the second night of getting familiar with the new kitten, he had changed. While this little 5 or 6 week old kitten was standing on the bathroom sink, I went to pick him up and “bond” with him.  He arched his little back like a Halloween cat and hissed like a Cobra.  He did the same to my wife.

We both stared at each other in disbelief.

If you adopt a pet from a rescue agency like animal control or the SPCA. Should you return the pet for “behavioral” issues; you are sending that pet to death row.  So being the responsible pet owners that we wanted to be, we kept hope that the kitten would change.  We figured a new environment would just take some getting used to.  One can surely hope can’t they?  He did warm up to my wife but only on his terms.

For 11 years, this animal was the “problem child”. Any other less responsible pet owner would have sent him back or as time went by, just had him euthanized.  We live in a culture that refers to “abortion” as “Having it taken care of”.  Your pet or baby becomes an “it”.  It’s so easy to just “Tap out”.

I considered the tabby my penitence. Sometimes God puts aggravation into your life to see how you will respond to it.  I can assure you that coming home from a long day on the road only to find that the Nike bag you left on your office floor got urinated on will test your will and emotional strength.  There were more than several times when one of us would say to the other, if you want to take him down and have him put to sleep, just  don’t tell me about it.  But for the reason of knowing right from wrong, putting up with this source of aggravation built a certain type of character.  I’ve never considered character an emotion, however; it did develop a certain hidden emotion.  Hate is an emotion.

The opposite of love is NOT hate; it’s indifference.   Sometimes indifference is a survival tool be it long term or situational.

Today; after 11 years of trying to show love for this difficult tabby, it came time to put him to sleep due to a terminal illness. This was the first euthanasia of a pet I had witnessed since I had to put “My Gool ol’ Max Dog” down 11 years ago.

That tore me up. In 2005 I had spontaneous crying attacks just driving down the road.  I would be in the shower and realize that my shadow of 9 years was gone and I would lean my head against the shower tile and cry.  I would see one of his favorite toys in “PetSmart” and get choked up.

Since then, my wife has taken our first two cats in by herself as I just couldn’t/wouldn’t do it. But for some reason, as much as I disliked this cat, I forced myself to treat it humane; I felt I had to be there for his last goodbye.

I don’t know if it was repressed and released memories of 2005 or perhaps a ball of anger, frustration and self-imposed control; but I started to tear up when I closed his eyes for the last time. I felt he needed someone to show him love one last time. This is the essence of true love.  It’s the principle of first century Christianity;  showing love to someone or thing that needs it regardless of your feelings for it.

Destiny vs. Free Will

Tales from the O.R. is more than intriguing stories about surgical cases. It represents what I’ve come to know as God’s will. I hated the operating room. I even had a surgeon tell me that he couldn’t believe how good I was in surgery; yet how apparent it was that I hated what I was doing. Reflecting back on my years in the Operating Room has given me much to think about. Yes I’m a guitar diety first, (according to the Wave Magazine)  but we all need to eat.

I knew a plastic surgeon who came from a long line of surgeons. His first love was sculpting. He couldn’t wait to get home to his studio and get his hands into his clay. It’s hard to be really good at something you have disdain for. But I always approached every case as if the paitent were a loved one. Jesus said treat your neighbor as you would yourself.

Although I’ve been called “The Greatest Guitarist in the World”, it never gave someone back their vision or allowed them to live without a cancerous tumor in their body.
It came at the sacrifice of fame and perhaps riches
King Solomon said all in life is vanity. (useless). I believe we’re all here for a reason. Perhaps King Solomon never helped someone walk again. He was speaking about his own personal pleasures. I feel that as much as I love playing music, I was tasked with helping people heal so they could help others. It came at the sacrifice of fame and perhaps riches. I never played music for fame or riches. I played because it made my parents happy. After they both died, I kept playing thinking it would make someone happy. But that was my plan not God’s. Who knows, maybe there’s a bigger stage in the next realm.  Maybe I’ll realize someday that Music is not that important.
All my life I’ve wanted to be on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine.  But it seems that my greatest virtues will only make the “Tales from the Operating Room”.

REINCARNATION

PRE-CONCEPTION

Jameses

James Jr. WW2 Hero on left KIA ~ James Leininger III on right

“I knew you were going to be good parents when I saw you both in that

Hotel in Hawaii.” ~ James Leininger (Age 5?)

The above line is what young James Leininger said to his father at the age of 5 or 6. James is the most documented case of “Past Lives” and “Reincarnation”.

LilJames

On this Mothers’ day, it makes me wonder if we had a choice to pick our parents, or if it was just James that had a choice. This is part of a discipline called “Theosophy”.  The difference between Theology and Theosophy is that the latter explains the “How” behind the what.

In the documentary, the father of James is initially a skeptic/Bible thumping evangelical that “believeth not”. Most Christians that do not believe reincarnation is real do so because of the parable of Lazarus and Abraham’s bosom.  In short, Lazarus is a poor man who lives a righteous yet poor life and then there’s the man of wealth.  Both die and move to the next realm.  Of course the rich man who is a non-believer is in the lake of fire and can see Lazarus in Abraham’s bosom.  (Let me explain).  The term “In Abraham’s bosom is like that first time you walk through the door of your home after 12 weeks of Basic military training, and Dad is there to welcome you home by greeting you with a big hug.  Ya know those hugs where you wait to see who lets go first? To make Hell worse, the rich man finally sees Abraham and believes and asks to go back just to warn his family members.  Abraham replied, naw, if they wouldn’t believe while you were alive, they still won’t believe.  Hard core Christian believers believe that means, one life per customer.  And from a physical mortal position, that’s true.  But can the rich man come back in a poor man’s body with no recollection of his past life?

Let me give you a couple of verses to consider. In Matthew 16:13, why did Jesus ask his disciples: “Who do they say I am”? Peter’s response in Matthew 16:14 is simple, he said: ““Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” OK, John the Baptist is just wrong.  He baptized Jesus.  Are we to believe that JTB and Jesus shared the same spirit? I’m not buying it.  But many of the Jews thought Jesus was an old testament Prophet.  My point is, in the first century, reincarnation was an accepted belief.

The next verse is even more convincing as it comes from the mouth of Christ. Flip the page to Matthew 17:10.  I’m going to paraphrase.  After Jesus had confessed He was the Christ; his disciples asked: “Then why do the scribes say Elijah must come first ?” here is the New American Standard Version which is the KJV minus the “Thees” and “Thous”.

Matthew 17:11

” And He answered and said, “Elijah is coming and will restore all things; 12 but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.

Christ’s disciples believed that Jesus was saying, the old Prophet Elijah had returned in the body of “John the Baptist”. How else can you interpret that last line?  In keeping with the parable of Lazarus and Abraham, it wasn’t Elijah that came back to life.  It was John the Baptist with Elijah’s spirit.  Just as James III thought he was James Jr.  He wasn’t.  He is James III with James Jr’s soul.  No memory of much after the age of 4 or so.  Do you ever wonder why little children often have “Imaginary friends”?  Pediatricians say that most people cannot recall their childhood prior to the age of 4.  Is this because the younger we are, the closer we are to our last incarnation?

So this makes me wonder. Do we have a say in being reincarnated?  Do we get a pre-incarnate look at what our life is going to be like?  Perhaps we get a look at the circumstances we’re born into.  Perhaps not.  Why would an intelligent spirit choose to be an Ethiopian slave?  The comedian “Father Guido Sarducci” once said that many nuns were gangsters in former lives.  That’s why they enjoy inflicting pain on the kids.  On the other hand, if you’re looking at 70 years in south Chicago or eternity in Hell, one looks much better than the other.  If it means saving lives while risking your own; or Hell, the answer is pretty easy.

I’ve always felt we were born into our situation, (rich or poor) to get the spiritual knowledge that being in that position could give you. I’m not talking about mental knowledge or conscious knowledge, but the feelings that build the character you get from getting kicked around in life. You get to understand what it’s like being poor.  Maybe if you arrive in the after life with a grudge because you tried your hardest but were still poor, you come back as a Rothschild only to see the drawbacks of wealth. (Loss of privacy, feelings of guilt, always having to wear and say the right things).  I learned many years ago that if you can’t be happy when you’re without money; you’ll never be happy with money.  I said that during a knee arthroscopy and the Orthopedic surgeon I was working with who was bringing in 3M a year (was) replied: “You said it”.

AceE

I’ve always felt that I was a German Lüftwaffe Pilot in my previous life. (And a good one).  I think I killed many.  I also get memories of crashing my Messerschmitt into the side of a mountain.  Is it any wonder that this musician had to spend the majority of his life in Surgery?  Did I need to learn what it was like to put people back together in surgery?  I was trusted to drill tunnels in your knee, or carve out a new tendon for your ACL, then sew you up at the end of the case.

When the government did away with paying general surgeons to assist, former Navy corpsmen like me were in demand.  I saw my salary triple overnight.  But who knows, maybe I’m that same “Ace” that killed so many British, Russian and American pilots before getting shot down, but with a better understanding and respect for human life?

God can do whatever He wants for whatever reason. Maybe not everyone gets reincarnated.  Maybe the previous Ace needed some spiritual fine tuning and was worth saving with a little polishing.

In closing; let me leave you with one last bible verse. It’s the most profound verse in the book of Job.  It comes from an innocent young sympathizer of Job’s named Elihu.

JOB 37:5

“God thunders with His voice wondrously,

Doing great things which we cannot comprehend.”

I get it. I don’t know crap about the intricacies or the extent of the God of our Universe.  The God of Infinity.  And even if it were taught to me; I wouldn’t be able to understand it.

Jesus said: “Love God and love your neighbor as you would love yourself””. Everything else is just STUFF. (Vanities, useless, fodder etc…) Also, honor your parents.  Even if you were born to an alcoholic drug addict mother.  God wants you to “Love” without a reason.  That’s your sign of being born again.

Conflict and Forgiveness

UF12

Matthew 18:21-35

“Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants who had borrowed money from him. In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him millions of dollars. He couldn’t pay, so his master ordered that he be sold—along with his wife, his children, and everything he owned—to pay the debt.

“But the man fell down before his master and begged him, ‘Please, be patient with me, and I will pay it all.’ Then his master was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt.

“But when the man left the king, he went to a fellow servant who owed him a few thousand dollars. He grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment.

“His fellow servant fell down before him and begged for a little more time. ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it,’ he pleaded. But his creditor wouldn’t wait. He had the man arrested and put in prison until the debt could be paid in full.

“When some of the other servants saw this, they were very upset. They went to the king and told him everything that had happened. Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, ‘you evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me. Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’ Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt.

“That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”

Matthew 5:39

“ If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also”.

Luke 23:34

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

What does it mean?

The first parable in Matthew 18:21-35 Jesus is saying that you’ve been given a great chance by the omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God.  It asks the question, who are you to go out and NOT extend the same kindness to others.

In Matthew 5:39 Jesus is saying that if someone comes up to you and provokes you, let it go.  Sometimes, silence is a bolder response than a “smack down”.  God said that vengeance was His for a reason.

In Luke 23:34 Jesus had been tortured all night and hung on a cross to die.  The Roman guards were dividing up His belongings to put on EBAY.  (Or whatever the equivalent marketplace was at the time).  They probably knew what they were doing was evil, but like those who were drafted as Nazis, they did what they were ordered to do.  In retrospect, although they didn’t know what they were doing; it had to be done.  Just as Judas had to sell out Jesus; it had to be done.  It was the plan from the beginning. If Judas doesn’t sell out Jesus; it is NOT done.  If the Romans don’t crucify Christ; it is NOT done.  If it is not done; we do not have a path to salvation.

The most important point in this message is that we HAVE to forgive those who have offended us. I’ve written in the past that I don’t need to forgive a person if they don’t ask for forgiveness.  When you look at Christ being spit on and mocked with a crown of thorns, you have to ask: “Where did the Romans and Jews ask for forgiveness”?  The answer is, it doesn’t matter.

“That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.” Jesus didn’t say from your “Lips”.  He meant, forgive them and turn it over to the Lord.  Vengeance is His.

The same applies for those you need forgiveness from. They may have you blocked on their cell phone or their Face Book account, but you can ask God to forgive the sin you remembered.  I know of a person I hurt badly and am lucky they didn’t come looking for me with a 9mm pistol.  I spent an hour or longer in my room alone trying to think of all the sins I know I blatantly committed so I could ask God for forgiveness.  It amazes me how I remember sins I committed as a child.  It makes me wonder how many I can’t remember or didn’t know that I had committed.

One person died that I was estranged from. Even before his death, I realized that he needed help and his actions, (the lies and let downs), were his shield in life.  It’s how he dealt with an unfair childhood.  Ironically, had I gotten a hold of him and told him that I forgave him, his response would have been: “For what?  I haven’t done anything wrong.”  Forgiveness is something that is expected of you, if you expect forgiveness when the party is over.  As for expecting forgiveness from others, Christ said to turn the other cheek and let it go.  (Note, Christ was not implying that you not defend yourself or your family) He was saying, let it go.  If you’ve forgiven the person for slapping you, you should be able to resist the provocation.

If you detect the feeling of “stubbornness” in your heart, you should make the effort to make things right. If you’ve cursed someone, (i.e., Go to Hell) understand that you are taking that curse to the grave with you.  At that point you truly need to appeal to God’s grace like the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18:21-35.

I once learned in an Alanon meeting that “Anger” is a poison that you ingest in hopes of making someone else die.  Therefore, I “try” to live by the creed of :

“Let go ~ Let God.”

Git Right With Jesus

Cross

The Following is an excerpt from the “Article Happy Ever Afterlife”

on 3/26/2016

I need to post it for future reference for the Salvation Of your Spirit.  This was following a sentence that talked about my brother’s unexpected sudden death on 11/1/2016.  I started the paragraph with, I only hope he had gotten right with Jesus.  It’s a phrase you hear down south as in: “Boy you need to git right with Jesus”.

CONTINUED FROM ORIGINAL ARTICLE

(Translated: he had read the bible and heard the gospel, confessed his sins, repented from his digressions, proclaimed Jesus as his savior and was baptized in water).  From my decades of studying the “Holy Bible” those are the various “conditions” that constitute “Belief”.  You might have seen the guy with the big sign that says “Go Niners” on one side, then on the other it says “John” then some numbers.  It’s a bible verse.  He usually has season tickets in the end zone.

J316

I’m sure if you’ve ever heard just one verse quoted to you from a bible thumper it wasn’t from Peter in Acts 2:38 saying to those that wanted Jesus dead then said oops we wacked our savior. What should we do? In Acts 2:37 Peter told those ignorant Jews that wanted salvation: “Repent (turn away from sin) and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness.” (Baptism is a symbolic plea to The God of infinity to be spiritually born again) *You’re gonna get wet.  Baptism is from the Greek word Baptisma which translates to “submerge”. (Not sprinkle)

JesusBaptism

It probably wasn’t Mark 16:16 either where Jesus (Also the God of infinity) said: “He who believes and is baptized shall be saved but he who has disbelieved shall perish”. Oh oh; there’s that word baptize again.

You probably weren’t aware of what the Apostle John wrote to all Christians in his first letter (1 John 1:8) when he wrote: “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.

You can find many other references that explain what this “Belief” is. But my point was not to write an article that says: “If you REALLY BELIEVE then you’ll…”  That’s like a wife saying: “If you REALLY LOVED ME you would buy me diamonds.  Please don’t get me wrong.  Getting baptized alone won’t save you.  Believing that Jesus is the Son of God won’t alone won’t save you. (Even the demons believe).  Confessing alone won’t save your spirit. Repenting is good but that in its self won’t save you.

JOHN 3:16

To save you 40 years of study, those 3 verses from the New Testament are examples of “belief”. Why is that important?  Because; the sign you’ve seen so many times is from 4th book of the New Testament, The gospel of John.  It’s from the 3rd chapter and 16th verse which reads: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”.

It’s election season. How many candidates have you heard say: “Yes I said that but that clip was taken out of context”.  If you study the bible it’s important that you read James’ letter to the 12 tribes of Israel.  In the 2nd chapter and 19th verse James says: “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder”.   Are demons covered under the same verse of “Belief”?

In this chapter (James 2) James is teaching what I’m trying to pass on to you, the reader. In fact James, the earth brother through Mary, of Jesus, goes on a Holy rant.  All of the one liners that radio evangelists use or even churches that are more interested in your “Love gift” (Money) than they are your eternity will fall back on one verse that is not taken in its full context.  “Whoever believes in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life”.  This verse is true and captures the beauty of salvation.

A DAY CALLED EASTER

WHAT IS IT REALLY? (Just another manmade Holiday.)

Last Supper

And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. ~ Luke 22:19-20

2016 years ago Jews celebrated Passover. It was in remembrance of God’s Angel “Passing Over” the homes of the Jews that believed and had put a mark in blood from a slaughtered spring lamb on their door post.  This was the 10th and deadliest of the 10 plagues on Egypt to force Pharaoh to Let His people go.  It was the death of the first born. This happened in 1300 BC.

You can see the similarities between Passover and Easter. Both required the blood of a lamb.  It’s also important to note that the Jews saw Moses as a powerful man of God.  In a way, he was seen as a “Savior”.

If you fast forward 1300 years we come to the birth of Christ.  The Jews of the time were expecting Moses V.2 and looking for a “powerful” leader like Moses.  When Jesus started his 3 years of teaching, he taught peace.  He wasn’t like Joshua, a fierce warrior.  He taught the Jews to love their neighbors and pray for their enemies.  This was not the image the Pharisees had.  The prophecy of Christ’s birth are many in the Old Testament. (Somewhere around 352) You can start with Isaiah 7:14.

In Matthew 5:17 Jesus said: “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill”. Jesus (God in the flesh) became the lamb.

On the other hand, John writes from the Island of Patmos in the book called “Revelation” that Jesus will return and there will be Justice. Man will see the “other side” of Jesus. On a personal note, I believe this will happen in our time so “get right with Jesus” (see yesterday’s sermon)

As for Easter, know that it’s a Sunday when Christians celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Also understand that Jesus (as with Christmas) did not say: “Pick a day in spring and remember me”.  No.  Read the top paragraph again.  In the book of Acts Luke wrote in chapter 20 verse 7: “When we gathered on the first day of the week to break bread…”  Yes this is a partial verse as it goes on to talk about Paul’s plans for travel the next day.  But this is the only reference in the New Testament as to when the original 1st century church took communion.

In Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth in chapter 11 verse 26 Paul instructed: “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” So Easter should be practiced every day.  Some consider the blessing of your meal a form of remembering Christ.

Many churches hold communion on various Sundays of the year to remember the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, but as you see in Acts 20, Paul said they got together on the first day of the week or Sunday.

Traditional Easter eggs

Finally Easter Eggs

The tradition was started by Christians in Mesopotamia (Modern day Iraq) where they would take eggs, color them red (for the blood of Christ) and remove the contents. This would be indicative of the empty tomb.

As for the bunny?  Go ask Santa Clause.

HAPPY EVER AFTERLIFE

“HAPPILY EVER AFTER” in the afterlife

I have to address this to the baby boomers that have made it this far. (Anyone born between 1946 to 1964).  Chances are you went to bed to stories of lost children or a damsel in distress that was rescued by a hero and in the end: “They lived happily ever after.”  If you’re not a boomer, “who knows what you were told”?

Do you have any Idea how much that quote programmed your head?

On this Easter Weekend I’m here to tell you that there is no real happiness on this planet or in this physical life. The term “happily ever after” is short for “living happy forever after adversity”.

In this life adversity is an ongoing presence. If it’s not in your life, you’re hiding from it.  If you live in the Middle East or the western European states, you’re not living so happily ever after the bombings and shootings.  It’s the nature of the incarnate world.

THE TEST

Two days ago I had a diagnostic scan for a possible Abdominal Aortic Aneurism (AAA). “Why”?  I’m not 65 yet, nor do I smoke.  I’m not even 60.  On November 1, 2015 my brother died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 65 from an AAA.  He woke up, emptied his bladder, went back to bed and didn’t wake up again.  “Ya never know. Ya know”?

To quote Robert Lamm:

“Does anybody really know what time is?

Does anybody really care?

If so I can’t imagine why.

We’ve all had time enough to die.”

Bible

My only hopes are that, (as they say down south) “he was right with Jesus”.

I’m sure if you’ve ever heard just one verse quoted to you from a bible thumper it wasn’t from Peter in Acts 2:38 saying to those that wanted Jesus dead, then said oops we wacked our savior.  What should we do? In Acts 2:38 Peter told those ignorant Jews that wanted salvation: “Repent (turn away from sin) and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness.” (Baptism is a symbolic plea to The God of infinity to be spiritually born again) *You’re gonna have to get wet.  Baptism is from the Greek word Baptisma which translates in English to “submerge”. (Not sprinkle, and yes God can save whoever He wants for what ever reason He wants)

JesusBaptism

It probably wasn’t Mark 16:16 either where Jesus (Also the God of infinity) said: “He who believes and is baptized shall be saved but he who has disbelieved shall perish”. Oh oh; there’s that word baptized again.

You can find many other references that explain what this word “Believe” is. But my point was not to write an article that says: “If you REALLY BELIEVE then you’ll…”  That’s like a wife saying: “If you REALLY LOVED ME you would buy me diamonds.  Please don’t be mistaken.  Just getting baptized alone won’t save you.  Believing that Jesus is the Son of God alone won’t save you. (Even the demons believe that).  Confession alone won’t save your spirit. Repenting is a good start, but that in its self won’t save you.  Doing all of them shows your belief and because God shows grace to those who believe, you will be welcomed.

God’s grace is the only thing that allows you into “Paradise”.  If you come to my house and I let you in, it’s my grace that allows you in.  If I say: “You need to take off your shoes before you come in” that does not mean that if you show up at my house with your shoes off that I have to let you in. (That would be works) Without my permission or grace, you have no right or “entitlement” to enter my house.

To save you 40 years of study, those 3 verses from the New Testament are examples of “belief”. Why is that important?  Because; the sign you’ve seen so many times is from the 4th book of the New Testament, the gospel of John.  It’s from the 3rd chapter and 16th verse which reads: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”.

TrumpRubio

It’s election season. How many candidates have you heard say: “Yes I said that but that clip was taken out of context”.  If you study the bible it’s important that you read James’ letter to the 12 tribes of Israel.  In the 2nd chapter and 19th verse James says: “You believe that there is one God.  Good!  Even the demons believe that—and shudder”.   Are demons covered under the same verse of “Belief”?

In this chapter (James 2) James is teaching what I’m trying to pass on to you, the reader.  In fact James, the earthling brother of Jesus, through Mary, goes on a Holy rant.  All of the one liners that radio evangelists use or even churches that are more interested in your “Love gift” (Financial donation) than they are your spiritual welfare will fall back on one verse that is not taken in its full context.  “Whoever believes in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life”.  This verse is true and captures the beauty of salvation.

Let me ask you just two questions.

Would you agree that: “Whoever possesses a valid driver’s license may drive a car?  Yes it’s true.  To get a driver’s license you have to take a test and get 80% correct.  Then you have to find a car and go for a ride with a brave soul from the DMV or MOT (for my readers across the pond).  The original verse is true but it’s not as simplistic as it sounds.

If I say: “Whoever pays the taxman shall not go to jail but shall be allowed to work another year until it’s time to pay the taxman again”.   Most of us would agree?   OK, let me talk to my fellow Americans.  Next month the taxman cometh.  Do you know how much to pay him?  Do you have your W-2 form or your 1099 form with your 1040 form filled out correctly?  You can’t just send the IRS (Taxman) some money in an envelope and move on?

Many Radio preachers say: “You are saved by Grace through Faith and not by works.” (Ephesians 2:8)

Homeless

Believing” in Jesus is the same principle. In that same book of James, (Chapter 2:18) he says: “You have faith and I have works.  I’ll show you my faith by my works”.  James later in the chapter goes on to say: “faith without works is dead.”  (Let me paraphrase) If you see a homeless person freezing in the cold, do you look the other way?  If you “believe” in Jesus, wouldn’t Jesus give him a blanket or take him to a shelter?  If you turn your eyes away is that “believing in him”?  How can you claim to believe, yet let a brother freeze in the cold?

BACK TO THE ULTRASOUND

In closing

I still haven’t received an official “reading” on my ultrasound test but it doesn’t matter anymore as I believe in Him. (The God of infinity) I’m not perfect but I try to walk the talk.  On this Easter holiday remember; our time here is short.  King Solomon used the term a vapor. “Happily ever after” is a myth we tell our insecure children at night.  It helps keep the boogie man away.

You’ll never know when you’ll wake up, empty your bladder and then go back to bed and not wake up again. OR even worse; wake up and face judgment.

Christ

Jesus paid the ultimate price for you. He was tortured and executed because our creator wanted to give us imperfect humans a chance at an afterlife.  Why would you let it go to waste?

SEX THRU THE EYES OF SURGERY

laparoscopy romeo-and-juliet

I use to be a surgical first assistant.  I worked with one of the pioneers in Laparoscopic surgery at Stanford University Medical Center.  His name was Arnold Kresch MD (R.I.P) Arnold died of pancreatic cancer.  A silent cancer that doesn’t manifest until you only have 3 months left to live.  “Arney” and I were close.  I held the scope and camera while he used the forceps and laser.  I know my way around the inside of a woman’s abdomen quite well.

After Dr. Kresch died, I went on to work at dozens of Bay Area hospitals. Although my prowess was orthopedics/Sports Medicine, I had a personal interest in GYN surgery.  From a clinical POV I found endometriosis one of the most interesting diseases that afflict many women.  So my ability to hold a camera and endoscope made me quite a sought after commodity at Stanford University.

One issue that confronts those who work in women’s medicine is how mundane sexual exposure becomes. In short: “A vagina is a vagina”.  Only once did I allow my personal feelings to enter my clinical mind, but I always put my professional attitude before my natural God given inclinations and I washed thoughts of any involvement from my mind. I got the thought out of my head and went back to seeing the vagina as just something connected to the uterus. I quickly got to the point where I saw surgery as auto repair except the oil was red, the water pump was the bladder, well you get the idea.

LUST & PROCREATION

God created men and women with reproductive organs that secrete hormones which often influence the brain. This accounts for Las Vegas weddings, teenage pregnancies and sadly “rape”.  I do have spiritual theories on homosexuality but I consider them (for the sake of this article) to be outliers.

How does “Porn” become “Parts?” A lot has to do with, as I said before, with your POV (Point of View).  When sexual organs no longer become a source of stimulation; the POV looks to a higher source for sexual gratification.  I think this is the POV most couples should have in mind before choosing to marry.  I know there must be a genetic desire for procreation. Procreation done in the right way for the right reason is a very exciting thing.  Creating another human is as close as we will come to being a deity.

There is a fine line between lust and the stimulus for procreation. Lust cannot sustain a relationship.  Love enables you to be supportive when the lust phase of a relationship has worn off.  After your mate has put on 20 pounds the first year of marriage, the lust factor will diminish.

Many make the mistake of thinking an “oil change” (another sex partner) is the answer; however it’s a myth based on an attempt to replicate the excitement of virgin lust. The cycle soon repeats (especially if you haven’t changed) and it’s back to wash, rinse and repeat.  It’s not long before one realizes that a new sex partner is not the same as a new “first time”.

SEX & THE AFTERLIFE

I would presume that in the afterlife we will not be concerned with anything physical. It’s ironic because when we enter the corporeal world, all we know is the physical.  We show emotion when we find the feeling of lying in a diaper full of feces and urine unacceptable.  Our empty stomach makes us cry for nourishment.  On the other side I would presume we will have an avatar that resembles a body.  We’ll probably communicate telepathically.  I doubt/hope we do not have pain receptors which means the only way we will be able to hurt someone would be emotionally.

If the “near death experience survivors” (NDErs) are correct, inflicting pain is not practiced on the other side. They return feeling a type of Love they cannot describe.

If the bible is correct, there is another place on the other side where pain is practiced in abundance. I can’t tell you for sure what determines where you will eventually end up.  All I know is that if you’re a Christian;

Love God with all your heart, mind and soul and treat your neighbor as you would yourself!

A VERBAL CONVERSATION WITH GOD

Phone

There are many examples where you read the words: “And the Lord said unto…” One good example is where Jesus says to Saul (Later to be known as the apostle “Paul”) “Saul why do you persecute Me”?  This was Paul’s epiphany on the road to Damascus.

God, (The Father) said to Adam and Eve: “Why are you hiding” It seems that Adam and Eve got the most direct verbal contact from the Father.

Some church leaders will say that God no longer talks to man as of 325 AD when the Bible was collated. Some churches even believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer available.

I can specifically remember hearing a voice from God. It was 20 years ago. Probably in June or July.  It was verbal but telepathic. I was in the 2nd or 3rd week of the divorce process and after a church service, I heard the message in my head: “Stay within yourself and I will be with you”.

What was interesting was, I had not solicited the message from God. I have no doubt it was from God as I was feeling spiritually depleted.   It’s the message I needed to hear. It gave me hope and hope leads to promise and promise from God is as good as having the atoms in your hand.

My Ex-wife, a non-believer, wanted to leave. The scriptures say if the non-believer wants to leave let them leave.  In spite of that verse, I would fight to keep a marriage together unless abuse is involved.  Especially if children are involved.

I’m at a point where I need God’s guidance. When I try to meditate my mind drifts off into abstract thoughts and before I know it I’m sleeping.  How embarrassing.  I talk to God as if He is sitting in a chair next to me and I get the feeling He is just looking at me shaking his head.

I’ve heard from the great almighty once. My mission is to pursue his audience.  I know that an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent God knows my needs and thoughts before I seek them.  Yet it is important that you seek them.  I’ll keep you all informed on the line of communication.

One last observation, if you ever read the book of Job; Job got the royal “Raw Deal” (for lack of a better word) Job was (As described by God) “A blameless and upright man, [fearing God and turning away from evil.”  That’s a pretty good endorsement I’d say.   What Job went through was as unfair as unfair gets.  God’s favorite guy tried to figure out not only what he did to deserve having his family killed off and his possessions taken from him, but why God would not talk to him.  Job waited and had to endure the hypothesis of his three stooges friends then finally Elihu, a kid came to Job and said:“God thunders with His voice wondrously, doing great things which we cannot comprehend”.

We are spirits that are inhabiting physical earth bodies.  God, to us, is a Creator.  We do not speak God’s language nor do we have the capacity to understand how the God/man relationship works.
